She's Ingenious! Wins Special Recognition Award
On Tuesday 30 June the British Female Inventors & Innovators Network International Showcase Conference and Awards 2009 were held at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff. She's Ingenious Founder, Cally Robson, collected a special award for the newly launched ShesIngenious.org and her coaching services to women innovators. Sponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government and supported by the UK Intellectual Property Office, the Business School of the University of Glamorgan, London Metropolitan University, the Institute of Patentees and Inventors, the British Inventors Society and Angels Den, the event saw female inventors and innovators from around the world gather alongside representatives from education, government and industry. The programme of events included an evening reception on Monday 29 June at the Atrium at the University of Glamorgan. The showcase the following day comprised a mix of plenary sessions and finalist presentations, with Q&A sessions with Rachel Miller – Director, Angels Den, Tony Guile – Wales Innovators Network, Welsh Assembly Government and Sally Long from the Intellectual Property Office, amongst others. The awards ceremony held in the evening was the highlight of the event, as both the British Female Inventor & Innovator Network Awards 2009 and the Global Women Inventor & Innovator Network Awards 2009 winners were announced. In all more than 60 awards were made across 15 categories. Cally Robson collected a Special Recognition Award for She's Ingenious! in the category of Capacity Building Initiatives, recognizing the contribution the newly launched website is set to make to the achievements of women inventors and innovators developing and commercializing their own products and inventions. The jury for the British Female Inventors & Innovators Network Awards 2009 included amongst others Christine Atkinson – Head of Women's Entrepreneurship Hub at the Centre for Enterprise at the University of Glamorgan, Diana Morris – President of the International Alliance for Women, Paul Ambridge – President of the Institute of Patentees & Inventors, Christine Lawrence – President of Women in Banking & Finance and Katy Chamberlain – Chief Executive of Chwarae Teg, Women in Workplace and Innovation.
