Inspire Young Women at Financial Mail's Breaking the Mould 2011
Financial Mail Women's Forum http://www.fmwf.com has offered She's Ingenious! an exhibition stand at this year's Breaking the Mould careers conference for sixth form girls, to be held at the prestigious Royal Institution in London's Mayfair on 14 March 2011.
The theme for the 2011 conference is careers in science and technology, and it has attracted powerful sponsors – mobile phones giant O2, the Food and Drink Federation and NatWest.
Speakers include former model turned entrepreneur Caprice, Phillippa Williamson, chief executive of the Serious Fraud Office, Sara Murray, founder of buddi and Charlotte Edwards, the England women's cricket team captain.
Teams have already been picked for this year's NatWest Apprentice Challenge final. Sixth form girls were tasked with inventing a beauty product, designing packaging and producing an outline of costs and how the invention could be marketed.
Nicky Kinnnaird, founder of iconic beauty boutique Space NK is to judge the challenge, alongside Liz Locke of BBC's The Apprentice, Olcay Gulsen, founder of fashion line SuperTrash and Carolyn Currie of NatWest's Women in Business team.
The winning ideas will first be pitched to professional buyers at the John Lewis Partnership before the three teams face a panel of judges at the Breaking the Mould conference.
The winning team will be invited to a reception in London where they will meet high achieving women in science, technology and engineering and HRH The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) will present prizes.
The Breaking the Mould event is growing in popularity from year to year, and this year expects to attract an audience of 400 teachers and students from schools around the UK.
The whole event will be filmed and broadcast on the FMWF YouTube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/FMWFvideos - and press will be photographing exhibition stands at intervals through the day.
